Minimum Qualifications:

  • A graduate of a Bachelor of Science in Nursing program (BSN) and holder of an associate degree in Nursing (AND) or a graduate of a Master of Science degree in Nursing program
  • Is certified by the National Council Licensure Examination and licensed within Massachusetts
  • Has a minimum of 2 years in a pediatric clinical setting as a nurse practitioner
  • Has experience with EHR (electronic health records) and an overall comfortability with computers and health – related software’s

Longwood Pediatrics, a private pediatric primary care practice in the Longwood Medical Area, is seeking a candidate to join our integrated Behavioral Health team. Nurse Triage Duties include, but not limited to:

  • Triage patient portal messages for patient inquiries and provide appropriate timely advice following Barton Schmidt Telephone advice protocols, other clinical advice and teaching of treatment therapies as instructed
  • Monitor and manage patient portal refill requests, labs and other in baskets
  • Document patient calls, and other inquiries accurately and within a timely manner
  • Obtain/receive STAT results and forward to ordering physician
  • Notify parent/patient of test results (lab values, radiology reports etc.)
  • Schedule/cancel tests/procedures, and specialty appointments as ordered by physician
  • Review lab & radiology results and forward findings to on-call physician
  • Correspond with Massachusetts Department of Children and Families and document all such correspondence

Direct patient care including but are not limited to:

  • Stocking, preparing, and cleaning exam rooms, rooming patients, taking appropriate vital signs (including rectal/temporal temperature, height, weight, blood pressure) and performing vision and hearing screenings
  • Draws and collects blood samples from patients through venous draws, finger sticks or heel sticks as back
  • Performing in-house CLIA-waived testing procedures for strep throat, COVID, flu and processing urine samples
  • Using proper techniques and procedures for hazardous waste disposal, universal precautions and body mechanics
  • Monitoring, ordering and stocking supplies under the direction of the Nurse Supervisor
  • Maintaining medical equipment and office equipment
  • Other clinical duties as assigned

Skills/Abilities/Competencies Required:

  • A minimum of 1 year of pediatric triage nursing experience is REQUIRED.
  • Proficiency in pharmacology & medication dosing administration
  • Current Massachusetts license to practice as a registered or practical nurse
  • Current CPR Certification
  • Comply with all local, state and federal privacy and confidentiality rules and regulations
  • Demonstrated good judgement using critical thinking, organizational, and analytical skills.
  • Ability to follow written and oral instructions
  • Compassionate and caring manner with patients and families
  • Excellent communication skills; written, verbal, auditory and technical

  • Pediatric Associates of Brockton is a private pediatric practice with 9 pediatricians, 3 nurse practitioners, and 1 physician assistant. The practice has 4 dedicated behavioral health providers and robust support staff.
  • There are three locations in: Brockton, Canton, and West Bridgewater. Physicians typically rotate through 2 or 3 offices.
  • The practice is well established, having been a staple in the Brockton community for over 50 years. There is partnership track potential
  • Office(s) are open 7 days a week; weekdays from 8:30-5:00, Saturdays and Sundays until approximately 1PM
  • Full-time is 8 sessions (4 days/week, 32 hours) whereas part time is 6 session (3 days/week, 24 hours), plus equal share of night and weekend call split among 10 providers
  • Call is telephone only, with no inpatient or newborn nursery responsibilities. A triage nurse takes first call for night call.
  • Expected volume for providers is approximately 20-25 patients per day
